Edd came home from kindergarten one day and told his mom he had a girlfriend, Marie Carlson. Their love has continued to grow ever since.
Edd is from Wallsburg, the son of Elmo and Fern Sabey. Marie is from Charleston, daughter of Jack and Vera Carlson. Together, they consider Charleston their home.
Edd worked many years as a carpenter in construction before accepting a position with Wasatch County. Marie dedicated her career to public service, initially working at the Health Department and later serving as secretary for the county council until her retirement.
Edd has a passion for farming, raising sheep, cattle, and horses. He works diligently in his fields every day and has personally sheared thousands of sheep throughout his life, continuing to shear a few occasionally.
Marie enjoys spending quality time with her grandchildren, often taking them shopping and out to celebrate their birthdays, allowing them to choose their gifts and where they want to eat. She also plays the piano and accordion, known for her lively and fast-paced playing style.
Together, Edd and Marie are proud parents of four children and their spouses, grandparents to 22 grandchildren, and great-grandparents to 19, with two more expected. Their family remains their greatest joy and source of pride, and they cherish supporting them in all their activities.
They regularly serve at the temple and look forward to the opportunity to attend the temple in Heber in the future. This August, they will celebrate 61 years of marriage.
